Fire Resistant Quonset Hut Is Perfect For Blacksmith Workshop

When SteelMaster customer Stephen M. retired and decided to take up blacksmithing, he knew he needed a durable building to work on his projects.

Stephen purchased a 12’ X 12’ S-Model Quonset hut to use as a coal forge, which is a blacksmith’s workspace. Blacksmiths also use a hearth that heats their materials, which is also referred to as a forge.

“SteelMaster seemed to be the way to go because being all metal it would be very heat resistant and fire resistant,” Stephen said. “I wouldn’t have to worry about catching things on fire as a wood-framed building would.”

Because he lives in a rural area of Utah, Stephen was quite familiar with Quonset huts before he even purchased one.

“I’ve seen [Quonset huts] around before. I just know they’re extremely sturdy once they’re erected. They’re just bulletproof. I thought I might as well build something to last.

He found out about SteelMaster while surfing the web and was impressed by the information on our website, our building specialists, and reviews from our customers.

SteelMaster has a five-star review rating on the Better Business Bureau’s website, as well as a 4.7 star Google Review rating with over 450 reviews.

“I did some looking online and SteelMaster seemed to be the most popular and the best manufacturer in terms of reviews and ratings,” Stephen said. “The discussions with your salespeople and after sales was very impressive.”

Stephen’s grandson and brother-in-law helped him assemble his Quonset hut building in only a week and a half.

“I think it was excellent. Everything came delivered well in very good condition. We really had no difficulty putting it up following the instructions,” he said. “It took 25 hours. I know because I was paying my grandson, he’s saving for a car.”

Overall, Stephen is very happy with his shiny new metal building and his experience with SteelMaster. He’s already fired up his forge to work on his blacksmithing.

“I’ve started some forging projects in there, I’ve worked in there four days. It works great. Definitely just what I needed. I would highly recommend SteelMaster. I think you guys do a great job.”
