Austin Animal Shelter Adds Custom Steel Roof System
Everyone needs love. Those who are especially in need of love and care are the countless animals that are abused and abandoned each year.
Thankfully, there are thousands of volunteers and workers around the country who dedicate their lives to making life a little better for them. Many of those individuals work for the Austin Animal Center in Texas.
They run the largest no-kill animal shelter in the country and every day they are saving lives under the arches of their custom SteelMaster roof system.
This facility is 41,000 square feet and has the capacity to serve about 18,000 animals each year. They opened back in 2011 and these workers continue to find loving, forever homes for abused animals.
The architect who designed the building wanted a company that was going to create the special, curved steel roof they were requesting. That’s when he reached out to SteelMaster Buildings.
SteelMaster’s Commercial Sales Professional William Swafford knew exactly how to meet the architect’s needs.
“There were so many layers to this project,” says Swafford. “The Austin Animal Services Shelter gives a nice example of how you can continue a form throughout a building.”
SteelMaster provided the entire finishing system for the building, which added beauty and grace to the center’s unique look.
Multiple roof systems complete the buildings that comprise the center. They are eco-friendly and helped the Austin Animal Center earn their LEED certification.
After adding their SteelMaster Arches, this center is not only a place where thousands of lives are saved but also an eye-catching attraction for the city of Austin.
