30 x 30x 14 Purchase & Construction FAQs
How does SteelMaster ensure my garage meets code and load requirements?
When you buy a 30 x 30 garage, we work with our engineering team to identify code and load requirements and create a state-stamped blueprint sent to you. Should permitting be necessary, these blueprints can be submitted as part of your application if required.
Should I get a bigger garage?
Quonset garages can always be expanded in the future. So you can turn your 30 x 30 into a 40 x 30, getting an additional 300 square feet of space (1,200 total) to store more than two cars or expand its multi-purpose space. 30 x 40 garages are a popular garage size, so having the option to get the same square footage in a 40 x 30 in the future is a huge advantage to many customers.
Which endwalls are best for my garage?
Your endwall choice is completely up to you. With a 30 x 30 garage, it’s wide enough to include both a garage door and a service door if desired and windows if natural light is a priority.
SteelMaster offers steel endwall options that match the Quonset arches for an additional charge. However, many customers opt to save money by using local materials to build their endwalls themselves to get the custom look they want.
Is it a DIY garage? Does SteelMaster help?
Yes, despite its larger size for a two-car garage, a 30 x 30 garage can be constructed with tools found at your local hardware store. SteelMaster does not offer construction services but we do provide post-purchase technical support to you throughout the construction process. Due to the prefabricated nature of SteelMaster’s Quonset huts, most customers build their 30 x 30 garage in a few days, not weeks. If you’re not a DIY person, it’s very common to hire a local contractor with construction experience.
Can I add internal walls or other customizations if I want? Electrical? Plumbing?
Yes, SteelMaster’s Quonset garages have no beams or trusses, allowing you to put anything you’d like inside. Walls are great to add to your garage to create small office areas, living quarters or a bathroom. Additional customizations like internal walls, plumbing, HVAC systems, and high-voltage wiring are all up to your preference.
Can I paint my Quonset garage?
Yes. Some garage owners wish to paint their garages to a desired color. If you choose to paint your building and are not using a primer, it is recommended to use high gloss water-based, self-priming 100% acrylic paint. However, every SteelMaster garage comes with an anti-corrosive coating, Galvalume Plus, and does not require painting.
